Saturday, July 11, 2009 (and always)
11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Philadelphia Zoo entrance

The Philadelphia Zoo announced that it plans to move Kallie and Bette to a breeding facility sometime after the July 4th weekend. Officials are misleading the public by telling them that the elephants are moving to a "sanctuary" and that "no one is talking about whether or not they will be bred." We owe it to Kallie and Bette to at least get the facts out as much as possible about where they are going and what the zoo plans to do with them. The elephants MAY be moved by this Saturday, but we'll still be there, if only to mark the event with signs saying "Kallie and Bette- gone from Philly, but NEVER forgotten - we'll keep fighting for sanctuary!"

Can you block off an hour or two to help educate the public on the reality of the life of an animal confined in a zoo? Thanks!

Mobilization for Animals: Make the Connection Exhibit

An eye-opening photo traveling photo exhibit that depicts animals suffering in various exploitative methods with accompanying photos of humans in the same situations. This is one of the most moving exhibits I have witness and is a really effective form of activism. The exhibit is based in Philadelphia, but doesn't get seen as much as it could due to lack of activist volunteers. Please help if you can!

Bittersweet update!

4th of July ExtraVEGANzaa!
6-11 pm B.Y.O.B.
New Harmony Vegan Restaruant
Tix- $20 (includes dinner and donation)

Okay, I have a bit of a bittersweet update for you guys. I'll give you the bad news first. Due to unpredicted and financial difficulties, the Vegan Bus will not be making it down this weekend. It's all good from here. The Vegan Bus gang will still be heading down here, just bus-less.

I am pleased to announce that we will be having a raffle to help raise money for the Vegan Bus and there will be a grand prize of a one-night stay at Farm Sanctuary NY. There will also be a second prize of some awesome apparel from the Vegan Bus and Vegan Radio.

We sold a lot of ticket so far, but there are still some left that can be purchased upon your arrival tomorrow.

Although it's B.Y.O.B., Vegan Drinks Philly has decided to bring two bottles of Yellowtail wine (chardonnay and shiraz) for anyone who would like some in exchange for a small donation to support the groups involved with this event. If anyone would like to bring some extra beers or wine that they want to donate to this project in an attempt to raise more money, please do. What a great fundraising idea, get a drink and help the cause. It's what Vegan Drinks is all about!

Remember, we need money now more than ever to free the Vegan Bus and keep it rollin' across the country inspiring people everywhere to GO VEGAN!

If anyone has any questions, please email ed@vegandrinksphilly.com

See you there!

-Ed
