Vegan Drinks Philly 4.20.09!!!

Vegan Drinks Philly 4.20.09, 5:30-9:30pm @ Horizons 611 S 7th St, Philadelphia, PA

Can you believe this will be our third event already? When Vegan Drinks Philly started in January, who would have known it would have brought in a crowd of more than 100 people? For the second event in February, Horizons decided to shut down the restaurant to give everyone a bit more breathing room and the turnout was similar.

Due to the continued demand, we will again hold Vegan Drinks Philly at Horizons and open the entire restaurant solely for the event!

People from all walks of life and all ages and background have come out to show their support and celebrate life without animal exploitation. Relationships and organization amongst the Philadelphia animal rights/vegan/vegetarian movement has occurred along the way.

Please join us again on 4.20.09 and bring your friends. Remember, whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or just veg-curious, ALL are welcome to attend.

Through continuing this event and building strong bonds as a group, we really can make a change for human health, the environment, and mostly importantly ALL sentient beings.

So come out, have a drink, eat great food and meet like-minded individuals. Most importantly, spread the word!! Stay tuned as new, exciting details about this next event have yet to be revealed ;)

FYI- due to restrictions from Facebook, most updates concerning this and future Vegan Drinks Philly events will occur here at www.vegandrinksphilly.com. Be sure and enter your email address so you won't miss a thing!

See you on 4.20.09!!

You can RSVP on our Facebook event page, but this is not necessary. Just be there! ;)

P.S. If you have any videos or pictures from the last events, please post them here! We need everyone to see how fun it is ;)

Make sure you know when the next event is by subscribing. Your email will only be used for and by Vegan Drinks Philly.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who attended Vegan Drinks Philly on 3.23.09! We held our first fundraising event through a raffle and had some great prizes! Needless to say, we raised $327 to split between the Humane League of Philadelphia and Chenoa Manor farm animal sanctuary!! In addition, Kate and Rich over at Horizons donated an additional $50 to each of the causes!! Thanks to everyone who participated, the money will certainly go to good use ;)

Chenoa Manor

Please support Chenoa Manor animal sanctuary.

“Chenoa Manor is a non-profit animal sanctuary in southeastern Pennsylvania's Chester County. Our focus is on rescued farm animals and exotics. Chenoa Manor does not accept domestic animals at our sanctuary.
Our mission is centered on animal protection and the promotion of a more humane world through educational programs and events targeted for at-risk teens, while advocating the benefits of a compassionate vegetarian and vegan lifestyle.”

Unfortunately, Chenoa Manor’s founder and director, Dr. Rob Teti, is unable to attend this evening’s event. I personally got a chance to go out and visit with Rob and the animals at the manor last week. The animals treated me as one of their own, the sheep and goats flocked around me, the turkey was on full display for me, and the cows nudged and bumped me as if I were as big as they were! Rob told me he was going to remodel the 200-year old barn on the property into another extension of the sanctuary. The animals will really enjoy being able to hang out in it. This project is estimated to cost around $200,000 so I thought Vegan Drinks Philly could help. Please join me in supporting Chenoa Manor and stop by for their first tour of the season on April 11th!

Vegan Drinks Philly, this Monday!

Vegan Drinks Philly

3.23.09 @ Horizons (611 S 7th St) 5:30 - 9:30 pm

Hi everyone!

This is just a reminder that Vegan Drinks Philly will be taking place in about two days! I hope everyone is excited!! There are a few announcements to be made:

First, we will have LIVE music! It will be an acoustic set by Jack Myers. Check out a video of him playing at the World Cafe Live here: www.youtube.com/jackbmyers

Also, there will be raffle and there are many great prizes that will be given away! ALL of the money collected will benefit the Humane League of Philadelphia and Chenoa Farm Animal Sanctuary. I have been involved with the Humane League for some time now and they are doing a great job with vegan outreach here in Philadelphia, in addition to the many other projects they have underway to advocate for animals. I also recently got the opportunity to visit Chenoa Manor and was touched by each and every animal that has the honor of living there. Unfortunately, the awesome guy who makes it all happen will be unable to attend this event, but I thought it would be great to get some money together in order to help rebuild a 200 year old barn at the sanctuary that will be used as housing for some of the animals. This project is going to cost approximately $200,000, so our help is greatly needed! Some of the items to be raffled off include:

a signed copy of This Crazy Vegan Life by Christine Pirello
a $30 gift card for VeganChic.com
a Whole Foods gift bag valued at $50
an Essene gift card for $25
a signed copy of Making a Killing by Bob Torres
and a full reiki session!

One more week!

Vegan Drinks Philly

3.23.09 @ Horizons (611 S 7th St) 5:30 - 9:30 pm

Don't forget, there is only one week left until Vegan Drinks Philly. I am pleased to announce that there will be a silent auction to benefit Chenoa Manor and The Humane League of Philadelphia.

As of now, we have a couple of signed books by your favorite vegan authors, some gift cards for food and vegan products, and a few other odds and ends. It's not a lot, but any money we can gather will certainly go to good use.

That being said, we are still seeking donation requests for silent auction items, so please contact ed@vegandrinksphilly.com with any suggestions. We are also still looking for a musician to play a small, acoustic set for the event. At this point, compensation will be in the form of food and drink. Maybe next time, when we have thousands of people attending Vegan Drinks Philly, we will have something more to offer ;)

Incase you haven't noticed, VegNews is now sponsoring Vegan Drinks events across the nation, so we are beginning to get some real recognition. Again, the more people that some out, the better, so bring friends and be sure to spread the word.

Through connecting with like-minded individuals and introducing others to a vegan lifestyle, there is no doubt that we will put some real momentum into the animal rights movement here in Philadelphia. If you have any questions or suggestion concerning the event, please be sure and contact ed@vegandrinksphilly.com

See you there!

-Ed

P.S. Death on a Factory Farm airs tonight on HBO! Be sure and encourage family and friends to watch it.

Also, if you would like to get pro active about advocating for animals, there are a few events coming up. I'm sure you will meet plenty of people at Vegan Drinks Philly that you can team up with!

The Humane League of Phildelphia/PAWS present the first Walk for the Animals. 5.2.09. Check out www.phillywalk.org

2 weeks away!

Vegan Drinks Philly 3.23.09 @ Horizons (611 S. 7th St.) 5:30-9:30 pm

Hi everyone!

There are only 2 weeks left until the big event! This one will certainly be bigger and better than last time. We will have the entire restaurant to ourselves! Horizons will be offering another FANTASTIC Vegan Drinks menu that will again feature many low-priced appetizers and beverages ;) One of the things we are focusing on for this event is local, Philadelphia beers and wines. We may even have some local media visitors out to cover our story! How exciting!!

We are still searching for items that could be used to set up a silent auction to raise money for Chenoa Manor and the Humane League of Philadelphia. Right now, I have a signed copy of This Crazy Vegan Life that was generously donated by Christina Pirello. Unfortunately, in order to do the auction, we are going to need more stuff. If you have anything, or know anyone who might be interested in donating something such as artwork, gift baskets, gift cards, or maybe some vegan treats?? Don't be afraid that any contribution is too small. PIease get in contact with me for suggestions: ed@eatingconsciously.com

In addition, there MAY be an acoustic music set! Nothing is set in stone yet, but I am actively seeking musicians who may be interested in playing this, or future Vegan Drinks Philly events. Again, it must be acoustic because of restrictions by the city for the location (no amplified sound). Wouldn't it just make it a real party if we had some live music? Again, if you have any suggestions for this contact me: ed@eatingconsciously.com

What else? Oh! The people!! All of you! I know some of you are teetering on the edge of coming. The more support we get, the more we can do with these monthly events in the future. People are taking notice even after the first Vegan Drinks event and the more support we have, the more recognition we get. Pretty soon we could have a vegan city, right? So, remember ALL are welcome to come. Vegans, vegetarians, and even the veg-curious! Everyone should feel comfortable at Vegan Drinks Philly and maybe even walk away with more than they came with. If it weren't for all of you who supported the last event and continue to support this one, NONE of this would be happening. Spread the word, forward this letter, bring lots of friends, post flyers, you know what to do!

Everything is really coming together as we speak and there may even be a few more exciting details to be announced shortly. Be sure and check out Vegan Drinks Philly on Facebook and also sign up your email at www.vegandrinksphilly.com to stay up to date. Hope to see everyone there and don't hesitate to get in contact with any suggestions or ideas.

See you at Vegan Drinks Philly! ;)

-Ed

P.S. Don't forget to come out on May 2nd for The Humane League of Philadelphia and PAWS Walk for the Animals. It's going to be HUGE!! Also, don't forget that on March 16 on HBO, they will be airing Death on a Factory Farm, by the same undercover agent who brought you Dealing Dogs. This would be great for friends and family to tune in to.
